IOV Journal

The Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (Convention 2003) was adopted by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during its 32nd session in Paris on October 17, 2003. This important document, more than 10 years after its adoption, is ratified by most of the countries around the world. Its application in the various countries reflects both the conceptual framework outlined by UNESCO and the different cultural policies created to address the unique characteristics of the world cultures. The creation and applications of the Convention 2003 also serve as an important stimulus for further research and analysis in the field of intangible cultural heritage.
